I value everything in my life. I truly value being able to live a life where I was brought up in a lifestyle that had 2 different cultures, American and Korean. After my high school graduation, my parents allowed me to go to Korea for a year to study Korean at Seoul National University. I believe that I grew during that period and learned a lot of Korean and about my self in general. Since then, I spend time on everything that I value such as education and learning more about Korean Culture because I really want to be able to communicate with my mom's family in Korea because they don't speak English well.
People only live life once and you should embrace all your opportunities. If you are enjoying your life and learning a lot about what you are interested in and become more educated, than you are truly spending time on the things we value.

Personal Vision Statement Post
The personal vision for my self is to be a public relations correspondent for an korean entertainment company in Korea such as YG family. I would want to expand the knowledge of foreign mainly East Asian music throughout the world especially in the United States. Many Americans are not well aware of Korean Pop music therefore I would want Americans to have a chance to truly experience how Asian Pop music is unique and different. I am interested in business and I want to contribute toward the global society of today. I grew up in an international environment and I want to use those experiences in the future towards being in public relations.

I truly believe that collaboration is good to do because there will be many diverse opinions and ideas that could help with the success of the goal. I think collaboration works the best when people listen to what everyone has to say and then together everyone comes up with an idea together. Also, when collaborating, people can have different sources that could help with promoting their idea and receiving resources to help with the process. If you just focus on one person, then maybe there could be an idea that would be more successful. But because you just focus on one person, then you won't be able to hear that idea.
I think diversity is very important for collaboration having a variety of ideas allows the group to have more options about how to go along with solving the problem. Diversity could also help connect the idea to a wider audience because the group would learn how to target different groups of people.
The challenges that would come with diversity, I believe are people who clash with opinions and having too many ideas where you can't come up with one and focus on it. Also there can be arguing between individuals and some people may not be open minded with various ideas. They may have just one set mindset.

I think I have become a more effective citizen in the groups that I am a part of by attending the various events of the organization and executive board meetings where I listen to people's various ideas and also give some of my input. I also work together with other people in groups such as the Korean Student Association and plan events such as the Korean Culture Show to show the public and students about the uniqueness and creativity of Korean culture. I also want to be a more effective citizen in the community and understand more about what is going on in the community and how I can help. Last year, my sorority sisters and I volunteered at the Capital City Half Marathon. It was a great experience for us to be a part of the Columbus community. When we saw the look on the runner's faces and heard their voices when they said thank you, we felt that we helped in a way towards the Columbus community and brought happiness to them.
My current approach to citizenship is finding groups that I want to be apart of and that are important to me and then with those groups, I want to work together with those groups and listen to their ideas and give some of my ideas too.
My sorority sisters also have positive thoughts about citizenship and want to be a part of the community and different groups. They find groups where they share a similar identity and try to become more involved in those groups.

I agree with Barack Obama's quote that "Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." When individuals want to do a "change", they should not be afraid and wait to commit to that change. Instead they should be pro-active and brainstorm on ideas to figure out how to solve the change and get the public aware of the change and the reasons for the change. I think this involves second order change because second order change "considers leadership to be an act of mentoring and empowering the general membership to contribute to the organization." Second order change allows people to collaborate and wind up with many ideas about how to do the change and people can ask others and gain contacts with people who are in higher positions in society. The people who are in the higher positions can help with resources and getting the message about the change more known.
In middle school, I was in model united nations and we were in groups and chose a country where we wanted to make a change. We worked and collaborated together to come up with ideas of how to do the change. By working in a group, we were able to think of more creative and interesting ideas and got work done more efficiently.

When I was in high school, my friends and I participated in a type of social change where we worked with an orphanage and at christmas time, there was a christmas tree and people could put christmas presents under the tree to give to the children at the orphanage. My friends and I helped with organizing the presents and delivering them to the children at the orphanage. This way the children could experience the joy of opening christmas presents. This change allowed us to help with giving children the chance to experience the traditions of christmas. After this experience, I felt that social change works the best when a person is in a group because each person can help each other and you can all brainstorm together and maybe a person in the group can have connections to people that can also help. I became happy when I saw the smiles and pleasantness on the children's faces when they opened the presents.
Social change is when a person who wants to improve or change something whether it may be small or big. I believe the person who wants to commit the social change should be outgoing and active in finding ways to go through with this social change. Also the person should find people to help with fulfilling the social change. By working in a group, you will be able to have more help and ideas of how to do the social change.

Reflection on First Session
After the first session, I can see that I am becoming more aware of my motivations to work for social change by communicating and working together with other people. I look at the world and want people to become more aware of different issues that are happening and that people know they have the power to change an issue. When people work together, they can truly make a difference even if it is just a small change. Every change counts.
Since I was in high school, I have thought about many things that I would like to help improve and change around the world. I would truly like to show and educate people more about the different cultures around the world and how each culture is unique.
